Nuestra casa, recinto de flores
Significado en español
Nuestra casa, recinto de flores,
con rayos de sol en la ciudad,
México Tenochtitlán en tiempos antiguos;
lugar bueno, hermoso,
nuestra morada de humanos,
nos trajo aquí el dador de la vida,
aquí estuvo nuestra fama, nuestra gloria en la tierra.
Nuestra casa, niebla de humo,
ciudad mortaja,
México Tenochtitlán ahora;
enloquecido lugar de ruido
¿aún podemos elevar un canto?
Nos trajo aquí el dador de la vida
aquí estuvo nuestra fama, nuestra gloria en la tierra.
Author: Miguel León-Portilla
Mi traducción al inglés:
Our house, enclosure of flowers,
with rays of sunlight int he city,
Mexico Tenochtitlán in ancient times;
a good place, beautiful,
our dwelling of humans,
our donor of life,
here was our fame, our glory on earth.
Our house, fog of smoke,
city shroud,
México Tenochtitlán now;
crazed place of noise
can we even lift up a song?
The giver of life brought us here
here was our fame, our glory on earth.

Cuando sobre la tierra amanece
la luna muere,
las estrellas dejan de verse,
el cielo se ilumina.
Allá lejos, al pie del cerro,
sale humo de mi cabaña,
allá está mi amorcito,
mi corazón, mi mujercita.
hcuac tlalixpan tlaneci (amanecer)
Mi traducción al inglés
When over the earth dawn ‘begins’
the moon dies,
the stars can ‘no longer be seen,’
the sky is illuminated
There far away, at the foot of the hill,
smoke rises up from my cottage,
there is where my sweetheart is,
my heart, my (dear) little woman.

EL CONEJO EN LA LUNA
Los pájaros de la noche
se quedaron en su casa;
mucho llovía a la mitad de la noche.
Cuando las nubes negras se fueron,
los pájaros estuvieron revoloteando,
tal vez veían al conejo en la Luna.
Yo pude contemplar
a los pájaros de la noche
y también al conejo en la Luna.

EL CONEJO EN LA LUNA - The Rabbit in the Moon
The birds of the night
remained in their homes;
it rained a lot in the middle of the night.
When the black clouds went away,
the birds were fluttering/hovering,
maybe they saw the rabbit of the Moon.
I could contemplate
the birds of the night
and also the rabbit of the Moon.
